As the location for one of Tennessee’s largest state parks, Dickson County has a wealth of outdoor activities both inside and outside the state park.
Montgomery Bell State Park
Montgomery Bell State Park’s abundance of historical, natural and cultural attractions include opportunities for camping, fishing, boating, hiking, picnicking, mountain biking, swimming and many other outdoor recreation activities.
The park is home to Montgomery Bell Golf Course, one of the top three public golf courses in Tennessee. This beautiful, 18-hole, par 72 course featuring Champion Bermuda greens and 419 Bermuda fairways has been recognized nationally as a Golf Digest Best Place to Play. It is not unusual to see wildlife such as deer, geese and wild turkey on the course.
In the days when iron was once thought to be more valuable than gold, the park site was once the center of the Middle Tennessee iron industry. The park’s namesake, Montgomery Bell, formed one of the largest iron industries in Tennessee.
Henslee Park
The City of Dickson’s newest park, Henslee Park, has more than four miles of walking, running, and biking trails, a 4,000 square-foot splash pad, and a 25,000 square-foot playground with inclusive features. To the left off the main entrance from Henslee Drive, the Henslee Park Dog Park is a fenced area that includes a water feature for dogs to hydrate, activity features, and a shade structure and picnic area for their human companions.
Lakeview Park/City Lake
City Lake in Dickson’s Lakeview Park is a 27-acre manmade lake with handicap-accessible fishing pier and boat ramp. The park is also equipped with benches for those who just like to relax and read a good book.
Luther Lake
Luther Lake in Dickson is a 14-acre manmade lake that is popular for fishing and wildlife viewing as well as walking and running.
